Fabulously original dinner ring with 3/4 carat in natural diamonds. There are dinner rings and there are dinner rings. This one is in a class all its own. It's quite old, one of a kind and completely captivating. It's very large, an eye-popping stunner, replete with diamonds, 37 of them for a gem weight of about 3/4 carat (75 points). The center diamond itself measures about 18 points.
It is a brilliant-cut sparkler. The ring's size and quality make it stand out in a crowd, definitely not a shrinking violet. It has opulent curves, also diamond-studded, to thrill and admire.
The face of the ring measures 7/8 inch by 5/8 inch across and sits 1/2 inch off the finger. It is a size 6 1/4, easily resized by your local jeweler. The setting of rhodium-washed palladium alloy allow us to date this estate beauty to the period around World War II when gold and platinum were in limited supply for non-military purposes. Palladium and rhodium are in the same chemical group as the other precious metals and were used as a substitute for white gold and platinum.Because palladium is so hard, it was usually mixed with other metals, usually with gold and silver, to make it into a workable alloy. The ring weighs 4.8 grams. A lovely estate piece in excellent condition, it will come in a sparkly pouch inside of one of my signature boxes, perfect for gift-giving.
