Genuine Liberty & Co Sterling Silver Enamel Cufflinks 1902. This lovely pair of Art Nouveau / Arts & Crafts cuff links were designed and manufactured for Liberty & Co. Very similar in design to Oliver Baker work for Liberty during this early period. Fashioned in 925 sterling silver they are decorated with green-blue turquoise enamel (no damage or restoration). The silver has a fine hammered surface all across the fronts.
The joining chains are particular to Liberty & Co. With individually handmade square section wire links and illustrated in their Jewellery Sketchbook held in London. This sets them apart from the very many button sets that have been broken apart and converted recently and pertain to being genuine cufflinks. Cufflinks were ordered by customers and so extremely unusual to find whereas button sets were mass produced. Fully hallmarked for sterling silver 1902 and marked L & Co as well as Cymric.
No damage or restoration save very minor scuffs seen under x10 loupe after minor usage. Note beautiful leather and gilt The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company Ltd box is set with unusual gilt Edward VII crest (1901-10) in lid not the commonly found George V design.
